Cultural Heritage

This luxurious Baroque palace was built by José Agustín de Etxezarreta around 1760. It has a square plan that becomes a cubic volume covered by a hipped roof. The main façade holds all the interesting elements. It is organised in five axes of symmetric openings separated from one another by projected mouldings. Over the main entrance there is a sundial. On the third floor there is a wrought iron balcony, with two doors and united to a big corbel from where acanthus leaves hang down. The façade has two pillars on every side, which perforate the roof and become pinnacles. The family's big coat of arms is located among the third and fourth floor, in the centre of the main façade. Nowadays, the Etxezarreta palace hosts Durango's Museo de Arte e Historia museum.
