Ordizia
In early September, Ordizia celebrates its "Euskal Jaiak" (Basque Festival). During these days you can enjoy activities such as concerts, Basque rural sports, cooking workshops and gastronomic competitions. The most important day of the festival is Wednesday, as a special market is held this day. In the morning there will be a cheese competition, livestock, fruit and vegetables, Basque chickens and a perretxikos mushroom exhibition. A particular highlight is the Latxa goat's cheese competition. Once the winning cheese has been named, the now traditional enchantment is held. In the afternoon the festivities continue on the streets of Goierri; Basque pelota matches between professionals are held on the Beti-Alai fronton court and Joxe Migel Barandiaran Square holds the aizkolaritza wood-chopping championship.
