Elorrio
Elorrio will celebrate the following October 2nd its peculiar festivity known as Errebombillos.
The elorriotarras -Elorrio inhabitants- call so the military march that takes place every year in their town. Some believe its origin dates back to the 16th century, when the elorriotarras came back home after the Lepanto Battle and expressed their joy through the town's streets. However, it is probable that this tradition be actually connected with the former armed bands that used to exist in Basque towns.
The party begins at 5am, when the youngsters go all over the town and shoot to the air in places the tradition determines. In the afternoon, the youngsters go around the town again, but this time, if the weather is good, they march in procession with the Virgen del Rosario Virgin. Finally, no matter the weather conditions are, the errebombillos dance at the town's square.
There will be room for more activities such as open-air dances or lamb tastings.
