Cultural Heritage

No doubt the Old Part is the most visited place in San Sebastián.

It is located in the foothills of Mount Urgull, crammed into the harbour and the estuary of the River Urumea. The city was rebuilt following the 1813 fire and its streets; full of shops, restaurants and bars offering pintxos (miniature culinary masterpieces) and gastronomy societies present a lively atmosphere throughout the year.

The Old Part hosts two of the most relevant religious sanctuaries in the city: the basilica of Santa María del Coro and the church of San Vicente. Likewise, the San Telmo Museum, located in an old convent, and the Plaza de la Constitución Square, core of the city's cultural activities, are worth visiting too. Its colourful facades with numbers painted in each wall, reminds us that it was a bullring in past times.

These streets were walled till the Modern Age.

The San Sebastian Tourist Office organises a variety of guided tours.
