Parketxe Armañón

The visitor centre for the Armañón nature park and the Ordunte special conservation area (SCA) is located in front of the entrance to the Pozalagua cave, in the former mineral crushing station of the Dolomitas del Norte quarry.

The permanent exhibition at Parketxe Armañon focuses on the wonderful richness of this area, including a virtual overflight of its mountains, discovering its rich flora and fauna, native breeds, the amazing world underground - and descending 40 metres below the earth to enjoy a unique 3D experience.

During the academic year the centre hosts school visits as part of its educational programme and at weekends it runs a programme of activities open to the general public, such as guided tours of the exhibition, games and workshops for families and activities to care for the environment.

Moreover, visitors to the Parketxe can find out about some of the best routes to choose from in Armañón, some of them setting out from the Parketxe itself, including several through the Sopeña holm oak woods, the circular to Ranero and paths leading to some of the dolmens and burial mounds to be found in the area.

It also offers information about the swallow holes, pits and caves to be found around and under Armañón, from the world-famous Pozalagua to La Torca del Carlista and Venta La Perra.
