The Shepherding ecomuseum is located within a 16th century farmhouse that enables getting to know shepherding activity and Idiazabal cheese making in its environment.
By means of an audiovisual screening the Ecomuseum relives the landscape humanised by shepherds and the cattle management according to the seasons. Moreover, the permanent exhibition presents a tour across the area, the cattle transhumance, sheep pens, shepherds' huts, latxa sheep, sheep life cycle, shepherding and artisan, traditional and current process of cheese making. Visits including the participation in the cheese-making process are permitted by appointment.
On September's first Sunday it is held the Shepherd Day (Artzain Eguna). We will find sheepdogs championship, contests, cheese tasting and artisan exhibits related to shepherding.
