Martin Berasategui and Arzak, among the top ten restaurants in Spain

The Basque Country’s restaurants score highly again with users of the TripAdvisor travel portal. The Travellers’ Choice 2013 Awards invited users to vote for their favourite restaurants. Two Basque restaurants made it onto the Spanish list: Martin Berasategui (second position) and Arzak (sixth position). The well-known donostiarra chef Martin Berasategui owns several restaurants, but his flagship is undoubtedly the establishment in Lasarte-Oria. Named after him, it has three Michelin stars and is renowned for its light, imaginative and fresh cuisine. A TripAdvisor user described the restaurant as the best place he had ever eaten, while another user gave it a score of 10. Juan Mari Arzak is another master of Basque cuisine. Born in Donostia / San Sebastian, his restaurant also has three Michelin stars. Juan Mari runs this gastronomic temple with his daughter Elena, offering a menu that reflects his constant creation of new dishes rooted in tradition. The TripAdvisor users called the restaurant “impressive" and "the best of the best".
