Garai Goitia palace, in the urban centre of Garai, is a large country house with a noble and monumental appearance. This ostentatious house, rebuilt in 1754 by Juan and Lope de Garai, is placed over an old and humbler building and its existence has been always linked with Berriz, birthplace of its promoters. The façade is its most valuable element because it presents the main features of Basque country houses complemented with the classic decoration of Italian Renaissance palaces. While the façade is symmetric and carved in sandstone masonry, the ground floor¿s central space stands out because of its wide arch. Over the façade door there are two windows framed in fluted pilasters, and everything is crowned by a beautiful inscription ordered by the Garai family.
